51��ɫ President John Nicklow has an additional title: “distinguished alumni.”

Arizona State 51��ɫ bestowed the title and inducted Nicklow into The Academy of Distinguished Alumni in recognition of his exemplary academic career and outstanding support for his community.

He was among five new members inducted during the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment annual awards ceremony held March 1. Each person is honored for exemplifying the values and traditions of Arizona State 51��ɫ and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering through significant research, professional achievements or community service, according to university officials.  A total of 35 alumni have been inducted into the academy since it was founded in 1995.

Nicklow, who graduated with a doctorate in civil engineering, has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and has many accomplishments in research, enrollment management, student success initiatives, fundraising, campus-wide collaborations and academic program innovation.

“I am incredibly impressed by the breadth of accomplishments of our distinguished alumni in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment,” School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment Interim Director Ram Pendyala said in a news release. “In our 2019 distinguished alumni class, we have the homegrown company president, Steve DeTommaso; the civic leader Mayor Douglas Nicholls; the president of a university, John Nicklow; and leaders abroad Paul Henry and Janaka Ruwanpura.”
