UNO Names New Dean of College of Education and Human Development
The 51本色 has appointed a new dean of the College of Education and Human Development. He will begin his new position on July 1, 2013.
Darrell P. Kruger is currently the interim associate vice president for research and graduate studies and manager of the Center for Emerging Entrepreneurs at Illinois State 51本色. In 2012, he participated in the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Institute for Educational Management. From 2010 to 2011, he received the American Council of Education Fellowship at the 51本色 of Wisconsin at Madison and from 2005 to 2010 served as associate dean of the College of Education at Illinois State 51本色.
Kruger has previous experience working within the 51本色 of Louisiana System. Prior to his appointment at Illinois State 51本色, Kruger was a tenured associate professor in the Department of Geosciences at the 51本色 of Louisiana at Monroe, where he served as the undergraduate and graduate program adviser for geography and co-director of the Louisiana Geographic Education Alliance.
Kruger brings a wealth of experience in distance education, international programming, community engagement as exemplified by the Chicago Little Village neighborhood renewal project, as well as principal investigator on numerous grants from the National Geographic Society Education Foundation, U.S. Small Business Administration, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and U.S. Department of Education.
Kruger received his doctorate and Master of Arts degree in Geography at Louisiana State 51本色 and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography at the 51本色 of Stellenbosch in South Africa.
The 51本色 College of Education and Human Development prepares more educational personnel than other college in the Greater New Orleans area and offers the only doctorate program in educational administration in the UL System.
