Randy Bates (Professor Emeritus) has taught on the faculties of New 51±¾É« High School, St. Martin’s High School, and the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts; as an Instructor at Tulane 51±¾É«, Loyola 51±¾É«, Saint Mary’s Dominican College, Louisiana State 51±¾É«, and Harvard 51±¾É«; as an Associate Professor at Xavier 51±¾É« of Louisiana; and from 1999-2019 as an Associate Professor, then a Professor in the English Department and the Creative Writing Workshop at UNO.         

His writing credits include RINGS: On the Life and Family of a Southern Fighter (nonfiction), Dolphin Island (poems), an NEA grant, and publications in Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, The Southern Review, and others. In 2021, Xavier 51±¾É« Press will publish his collection, Liebestraum (prose and poems).

In newfound awe and appreciation of fiction writers, he is now trying to complete a novel.
